Young Leadership Honorees

Jessica and Andrew moved to New Rochelle with their six-month-old daughters Charlotte and Sabrina in September 2012. After shul-shopping throughout southern Westchester during the 5773 chagim, they joined Temple Israel Center in early 2013 when their daughters started Yad b’Yad at the nursery school.

Jessica grew up in a modern Orthodox home and attended Westchester Day School and The Ramaz Upper School. Andy grew up in a Reform home and attended public school. Prior to joining TIC, they met with Rabbi Gordon Tucker to learn more. He helped them imbue their new home with their shared religious values and recognize in TIC a synagogue where they could live accordingly. Andy likes to joke that for him, TIC is a Goldilocks shul: they have to pass three other synagogues en route to TIC, but TIC somehow feels just right. Rabbi Tucker’s warm welcome and genuine interest solidified their choice.

After moving to Westchester, Jessica saw TIC as a great way to meet like-minded young families. She soon became active in the nursery school, volunteering in various ways including offering nutrition seminars to other moms. There Jessica met Jill Bohrer, her future nursery school PTO Co-Chair (and Gala Co-Chair). Jessica and Andy made many friends at nursery school events. One evening, at a nursery school parents’ social, Andy and Ben Carr connected over an impressive Blue Moon and other astronomically-adjacent trivia. In the months that followed, Jill and her husband Jonathan, and Ben and his wife Lissy (another Gala Co-Chair) became some of the Levinsons’ earliest friends at TIC.

In addition to providing nutrition expertise to the TIC nursery school, Jessica served as a nursery school PTO co-chair for two years. Jessica continued her involvement at TIC by participating in the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism’s Emerging Leaders program in 2016, co-chairing the 2020 and 2021 TIC galas, and serving on the 2023 Nominating Committee. Jessica is also an active volunteer at The Leffell School, served on the JNF-USA Westchester and Southern Connecticut Board from 2018 to 2023, and ran the JNF Westchester Mom’s Circle from 2021 to 2023.

Andy has participated in the TIC community in various ways. During the worst days of COVID, he delivered mishloach manot to members who live in New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, and Larchmont. That time also afforded him the opportunity to join Rabbi Annie Tucker’s weekly Bible BaBoker class, which he greatly enjoyed. When he joined the TIC Board in 2020, Andy recognized the importance of helping the shul navigate its way out of the COVID crisis. He co-chaired the Gala Fundraising Committee, helped assign Torah readers for the Yamim Noraim, and probably had the most fun co-chairing the Gala Wine and Spirit Pull in 2022.

Jessica and Andy met in 2007 when they were both living in Manhattan. They were married at Temple Emanu-El in Closter, NJ in 2009. Jessica is a registered dietitian nutritionist with a focus on culinary nutrition and communications. Her passion is helping families put healthy and delicious meals on the table, which she does through cooking lessons and kitchen coaching. She holds a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, both from New York University. Andy is the general counsel of The Corcoran Group, where he advises the company on various litigation, corporate, regulatory, and real estate matters. Prior to joining Corcoran, Andy worked at the law firms Cooley Godward and Skadden, Arps. He also provides pro bono legal services to various organizations in the area, including Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill (CHHOP), Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County, and the Mamaroneck Artists Guild. Andy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Ethics, Politics, and Economics from Yale University and a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard University.

Jessica and Andy are honored to be recognized for their contributions to Temple Israel Center. They are especially pleased to be able to share the evening with Audrey Samers and David Glicksman, whose many years of work for TIC inspire Jessica, Andy, and their peers. Jessica and Andy are grateful and proud to be part of the dynamic TIC community, including its staff, clergy, and congregants. They look forward to celebrating this special evening with all of TIC, their friends, and family.
